I've been told that this sign is relatively common
but that the old sign is still around (still waiting for a picture though). The present sign belongs to the UK-group
of signs which is widespread all over the world. Find some specifics at our
page dedicated to the children's crossing of Australia, where you also will find the old fashioned version.
I must (again, I mentioned it already in Canada) bring to your attention a weird practice which seems to occur
in many countries. Somewhere during the transition from
old design to new the clothes of the boy are taken away.
