Road sign art found in Latvia

Riga, 19.VII.2004; pict. H. De Meyer

Artist at work in Latvia.

From time to time our people on the field return with material proving that road signs are appealing to more than just a few collectors.

This artistic composition of several road signs (notice the children's sign and the man at work) was planted in front of the railway station at Riga.

It is not the first occurrence of this kind of artefact. S. Visser, in 1998, also brought pictures of art inspired by road signs. She found the piece in Basel (Switzerland) in front of the railway station.

Coincidence, or preference of an artist working on a European scale? We will probably never know because both our spotters were so delighted with their find that both forgot to inquire after the name of the artist.
