Préfontaines - vin de table

This is the kind of wine few people would have the nerve to order in a decent restaurant. Préfontaines became the major brand of vin ordinaire thanks to M. Henrion. André Dubonnet (son of Joseph founder of that other famous brand) asked him in 1951 to take over the Préfontaines division. Henrion transformed it from a family trade into a highly mechanized and automated industry. He built a huge bottling plant near Paris where people working around the clock produced about a million bottles a day.
