Julius Maggi, born in Switzerland in 1846, lived in a period when many countrymen switched to a city life and an even less balanced diet than before. Julius concentrated on reasonably priced products based on peas, beans and lentils. His famous potion, based on plant and yeast extracts was invented in 1886. In 1900 he moved home to Paris. In 1912 the Bouillon KUB hit the roads with a massive promotional campaign.
